April Lennon, MSW, LSW, is a licensed social worker and mental health counselor with experience providing individual counseling, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, outreach, and mental health education. She has worked with diverse populations, including college students and student-athletes, supporting concerns related to anxiety, depression, stress, identity development, life transitions, performance pressure, perfectionism, injury recovery, and overall emotional well-being.
April has extensive experience in crisis counseling, including supporting individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, and other urgent mental health concerns. Her background includes both remote and in-person crisis intervention, safety planning, risk assessment, de-escalation, and connecting individuals with appropriate community resources and higher levels of care.
Her therapeutic approach is person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. She incorporates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, crisis stabilization, and art-based therapeutic interventions. She uses creative activities to help clients express emotions, explore their experiences, reduce stress, and develop healthy coping skills.
